Indian Union Muslim League pulled off their best ever performance in the history of assembly elections in Kerala. Elections were held on April 13 for the 13th assembly. League had contested in 25 constituencies. The counting was held on May13th. League could win 20 seats, most of them by record margin. P Ubaidulla won from Malappuram constituency by a margin of 44,508 votes, highest margin of victory in this poll. P K Kunhalikutty, Gen Secretary won by a thumping margin of 38,237 votes from vengara. 12 league candidates won by 5 digit margin.
UDF would form the govt. in Kerala after securing 72 seats out of 140. Mr. Oommen Chandy will head the govt.
